This book is the second book of this series from one of my favorite authors, Margaret Peterson Haddix. It is a fascinating book about time travel. It is very thought provoking and interesting read. I would recommend it for older readers (4th grade and up).

Crucial Conversations
As a part of the Principal's Academy I am attending, we are studying this book. I've read it before and it's a fabulous book. It's about how to get along with others and work through potentially tricky confrontations. It's helping me to become a better leader. I'd recommend it to everyone!

The Last Lecture
If you were one of the millions of people who have seen the last lecture and you liked it, you should read the book. The book gives commentary regarding the last lecture and just makes it that much more meaningful.
If you haven't seen the last lecture, you ought to watch it and then read this book.
The Magic Thief
This book was very creative with a different way to look at magic. I wasn't thrilled with the way it ended and so I wasn't super excited in reading the second book. But now that a little time has passed, my curiosity is getting the best of me and I want to read the second one to find out what happened.
Gambit

This is a mystery book with lots of twists and turns. It has interesting characters but in the end I wouldn't recommend it. It really isn't a book written to or for kids.

The Capture
This is a book I have been wanting to read for years. Lots of kids are reading it right now because of the movie, so I finally decided I should as well. I have to say that I was disappointed in the book. It was a little bit violent and it just wasn't my favorite book. I probably won't read the others. If any of you have read all of the books, I wouldn't mind knowing what happens in the series. Maybe someone would leave me a comment and let me know, since I'm not going to read the rest.
Paws Off Cheddarface!
Another Geronimo Stilton book. I liked this one even more than the last one. It has an engaging plot and is humorous.

Last Year's Reading Poster
I enjoyed making and updating this poster of what I read during the past school year.
I didn't want to take it off the wall when it was time to put up my new poster for this year, so I took a picture of it so I can remember what I've read.
If you haven't looked at the reading posters turned in by students this year, make sure you check them out to see all of the great books that were read over the summer.

Chalk
Mrs. Romney and her class gave me this book last year. I really enjoyed reading it! Count how many words you can find in the book.

Stage Fright on a Summer Night
Just another of the hundreds of Magic Tree House books! Jack and Annie meet William Shakespeare and learn a little about his time period.
Four Mice Deep in the Jungle

Sometimes books written for young children are perhaps boring or uninteresting to an adult. This book is an exception. The book was humorous and I loved the character of Geronimo Stilton.
This book is part of a series--in this story Geronimo has a lot of fears and adventures to help him overcome his fears. Excellent for young readers.
Conscious Classroom Management
The entire Forbes Faculty read this book over the summer. I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to discussing it with the faculty throughout the school year. One of my favorite parts of the book is that we should assume the best of our students and treat them accordingly.
Rangers Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan
This series, Rangers Apprentice, was recommended to me by a neighbor. This is an action/adventure fantasy series that 5th or 6th graders might enjoy. I really enjoyed the book, and when I have time I'll pick up the others (there are 9 in the series so far). My 10 year old son read the first three books in 2 days! He loved them!
It Creeps!
This is a fun ghost story written by Dotti Enderle--not too scary for those who don't like scary stories. Perfect for K-3 graders. Read it around Halloween time!
Turnabout

I am a huge fan of Margaret Peterson Haddix books and have read lots of them. This book was great!
The Fairy Tale Detectives

I happened upon a book called The Fairy-Tale Detectives which was book one of a series called The Sisters Grimm. I loved this series. After I read the first book, I went to the library and checked out the others. I've read all of them now except the last book, The Everafter War. My city library did not have it. I may have to go buy it. My sixth grader also read these and love them. He finished them before I did.
